Hey Seattle! It was so much fun doing the Fremount Fair last weekend I decided to do the Urban Craft Uprising this weekend! This amazing event is in the air conditioned Exhibit Hall at the Seattle Center on Saturday and Sunday from 11-5. There are also events each day for kids to be creative so please bring them too! You can see my booth number if you go to the link, and I have a huge array of Seattle specific pieces. This event is curated really well, so the merchandise really is some of the best work in the Northwest. Hope to see you there!

Fremont Festival

Frawn in Fremont, Coming Home

Hippie Kids

When I think of the Fremont neighborhood in Seattle, Washington I think back on my childhood memories of roller skating down to the canal, climbing to the top of the monkey bars in our back yard to wave at the trains, and making mud pies in the backyard. It’s a totally different neighborhood since then, our house was torn down and replaced with a commercial building along with many of the other dumpy old houses. Luckily, many have been refurbished and the neighborhood has retained its creative roots. One of the great neighborhood events of the past that has continued over the years is the Summer Solstice celebration known as the Fremont Festival.

The festival takes place June 16th and 17th and promises to be a fantastic event for all ages. The weekend event will have a huge array of vendors, delicious food carts, live shows, a beer garden, plenty of art and games for kids, a pet parade, and the always lively solstice parade. You can check out the complete event line up by going to this website:

Our booth at the corner of 34th Street and Phinney Ave. so please stop by and check us out. We will have a wide array of Seattle specific items along with a broad range of painted pieces. If you mention my blog when you stop by and can tell me what the fathers day coupon code was for the etsy sale, we will give you 10% off of your total purchase.

Fremont Festival Weekend

The Fremont Festival has come and gone…whew! I made some sales but not as much as I was hoping for after the super successful Mississppi Street Fair. The crowd was a wonderful, friendly group of people who were fun to chat with throughout the day. My mom and I lucked out with a prime parking spot only 1/2 block away so packing up was a snap! The day started out gray and full of clouds and by the end of the fair the clouds cleared and the sunshine streamed in. Once again we were happy to see so many sweet dogs with their fabulous owners. I decided to do a dogumentary to show off the canine crowd.

Look at these sweet faces!

The festival began with a race around the neighborhood which included runners of all ages. This was followed by a cute little parade led by a fire truck and then a dog and bike group….

I used this as an opportunity to test out some new items and get some objective feedback. Here are the new pieces….

Magnetic Lockets: Each end of the locket is attached to the end of the chain so the magnet actually holds the necklace together.

Bubbles: I am playing with this larger necklace as well as a smaller bubble cluster on a long dangle chain.

Spray Painted and Stained: I stained the wood black and then spray painted lines onto the wood. After that I laser etched the image and sprayed a polyurethane finish to seal and protect the wood and the paint. I love the blue and white teardrops but they already sold!

I tried to make the most of my time and assembled as many earrings and necklaces as I could. The long bubble necklace sold immediately to a fellow St. Johns resident so I made a duplicate of that piece while I sat at the booth.

Radish Underground has re-stocked and is featuring bikes this month. So please check out the bike cuff links and bike belt buckles that they are show casing.

That’s all for now, please let me know what you think of the new merchandise!

Producing for the Fremont Festival

Burn, sand, spray, assemble, go, go, go!! I’m in the frenzy of production as I prepare for the upcoming Fremont Festival. I can’t believe it is almost here! Here is a link to check out the event, it’s a packed day with a huge variety of fun things to do this Saturday from 10:00am – 5:00pm:

I have actually never been to this festival before, but I’m hoping the Frawn collection is received as well as it was at the Mississippi Street Fair. I’m making some new lines that I am going to test out on the crowd. I’m working with more abstract designs and trying to add some color as well. There’s a line called ‘bubbles’ which is clustered circle formations (obviously right?). Sometimes they are perfectly symmetrical and other times they are a little off, the latter are my favorite so what does that say about me, hmm… The other line involves black stain and spray paint, and you’ll just have to stop by to check those out! 🙂

Trixie monitors the process for quality control, she's a total perfectionist!

We got back yesterday from a weekend trip to Yakima, Washington to visit Josh’s family. I have been struggling with a cold that I picked up in my weakened state after a big deadline at work. So I got to sleep in the car while Josh drove all the way home. I felt better after resting so I sanded a bunch of earrings and Josh mowed the lawn. It was was finally the perfect sunny day that we have all been waiting for!

Where Am I?
